well being tips for working from home

Want the best well-being tips for working from home?

While it’s true that working from home provides a certain level of comfort, it can also take a toll on one’s mental state if the proper self-care precautions are not taken. As a work-from-home girly myself, I can say that if I’m not making a conscious effort to take care of myself physically, mentally, and emotionally, I’ll start to notice a decline in motivation and a steep incline in anxiety.

Here are just a few tips that can help you show up strong for work, while also prioritizing your wellbeing.

Well-Being Tips for Working from Home:

1. Create a morning routine that will allow you to take time for yourself before you log on to any computers for the workday.

If we have an empty cup, we have nothing left to give. So, we must be taking time for ourselves first thing in the morning. Fill up your cup first, so you have plenty of yourself to give to those that rely on you. Morning routines are scientifically proven to be effective in achieving optimal results and increasing overall productivity. When it comes to your morning routine, what may work for me may not work for you. So be sure to test out a couple of different methods and stick to what feels best for you.

2. Get your work out of your head and onto a checklist.

When we have a million things to do it can get extremely overwhelming. The best way to get it all out of your mind and onto paper is to create a to-do list or some sort of checklist that works for you. Check out my favorite notepad that I use daily to organize my workload. You will feel lighter once you write it all down, and realize you just needed to get it all out of your head. There is also nothing more satisfying than checking it off individually throughout the day.

3. Include some sort of physical activity that will allow you to move your body at some point in the day.

Getting some sort of physical activity can be just the thing you need to ease your mind after a long day of sitting at your desk. If you’re like me and like to tackle the hardest task first, getting a workout in first thing in the morning can help with those anxious feelings around the middle of the day. Or you may even consider purchasing a standing desk that will allow you to place a small treadmill below so you can maximize your time by getting in your exercise while doing your work. Whatever way you like to move your body, make sure you’re making some time for it throughout the day. Your body, mind, and spirit will thank you.

4. Taking regular breaks throughout the day.

Taking a ten-to-fifteen-minute break now and then can help with your mental focus. Getting up from your desk and getting your blood flowing can be beneficial for the quality of work you’re producing. Whether you are stepping outside or just walking around your house, make sure you’re making some time for breaks throughout the day. No phone calls, no checking emails, no scrolling on social media, just take a minute to breathe and clear your mind.

Our homes are our sanctuaries, our places of relaxation and leisure. Keep in mind while you’re working from home, your job as a human being is to take care of yourself.
